Year 10

Term one has come and gone so quickly! The Year 10 English curriculum has been rich with tasks and activities that kept students busy and prepared for the year ahead.

The students explored George Orwell’s allegorical novella, ‘Animal Farm’ as part of their unit of study. They participated in a range of learning tasks and activities that allowed them to explore and enhance their analytical skills by closely examining the characters, themes and events that unfold throughout the text. Students enjoyed developing and justifying their own interpretation of the text while analysing the evidence presented to them.

Furthermore, students explored a range of texts written for the media that enabled them to further strengthen their understanding of argument analysis tasks, in particular, identifying the issue, arguments, tone of the author, persuasive techniques and the intended audience.

The students continue to work hard to achieve remarkable results and I hope to see the same level of determination and enthusiasm next term during Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ unit of study.

I wish all the students and parents a safe holiday!

Warmest Regards,
